Property developer Cebu Landmasters Inc. has unveiled a new P3.6-billion mixed-use project called Astra Centre that is seen to reshape the skyline of Mandaue City in booming Metro Cebu.

Astra Centre—which will rise on a 1.2-hectare lot on A.S. Fortuna Street, Mandaue City’s lifestyle hub that’s within striking distance from Cebu City—will have two towers rising from a shopping mall podium in its first phase of development.

The first 30-floor tower will feature a hotel and residential condominium, also part of the first phase of the project.

Astra Centre Mall will be an upscale three-level boutique mall with 8,300 sqm of leasable area. It is designed to have a high ceiling with atrium, outdoor dining and retail stores at a paseo connected to a sunken garden and a supermarket, and cinemas.

The hotel component will be under the brand Radisson RED, a first in the Philippines. This will be a 146-room hotel to be operated by the Radisson Hotel Group.

Katerina Giannouka, president for Asia Pacific of Radisson Hotel Group, said, “Cebu City is the perfect location to introduce Radisson RED to the Philippines, being a dynamic urban center with a youthful vibe and positive outlook.”

Scott Bryce, Radisson Hotel Group vice president for finance and IT for Asia Pacific, said Astra Centre was “the excellent venue” to introduce the hotel for the first time in the Philippines as both brands “offer the same dynamic lifestyle.”

Cebu expects expansion in commerce and tourism with major infrastructure projects such as the newly opened Terminal 2 of Mactan-Cebu International Airport. —DORIS DUMLAO-ABADILLA
