Manila Water unit to expand Laguna business

A subsidiary of Manila Water Co. Inc. has secured the approval of the Laguna provincial government for their venture to engage in other business outside of the partnership.

Manila Water Philippine Ventures Inc. (MWPVI) yesterday said it signed with the Laguna capitol a fourth amendment to the concession agreement of Laguna AAA Water Corp.

Laguna Water President Virgilio C. Rivera Jr. said the latest amendment stated the company could go into “other concession activities such as joint venture agreements with water districts and business-to-business engagements, among others.”

Rivera said the new agreement would pave the way for the implementation of an “environmental charge” for services including but not limited to the collection, conveyance and treatment of wastewater.
