PH’s infra pitch captures Denmark’s interest

Denmark is looking to participate in the government’s aggressive infrastructure program, while also mulling over fresh investments in renewable energy and affordable medicines, according to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

In a statement, DTI said top officials from both Danish and Philippine governments recently met to discuss bilateral trade and investment opportunities, especially in the administration’s “Build, Build, Build” program.

Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez met with Danish Minister for Industry, Business and Financial Affairs Brian Mikkelsen.

Quoting Mikkelsen, the DTI said the Danish wanted “to be part of the development happening in [the Philippines].”

DTI said Mikkelsen was interested in bringing in construction firms to help in the Philippines’ infrastructure program.

In response, Lopez welcomed this interest and encouraged the Danish to offer insights to solve the developing country’s problems, noting that “unsolicited proposals are welcome.”

The DTI is also planning a Nordic culinary tour this year to promote Filipino cuisine to Denmark and its neighboring countries. DTI Undersecretary Nora Terrado said they were also planning a trade road show in Denmark next year to promote Filipino trade and investments in general.
