PayMaya Philippines, the country’s pioneer and leader in digital financial services, and the Muntinlupa City Government play Santa Claus this Christmas season to more than 2,000 Muntinlupa City scholars.

A total of 2,500 Alabang Elementary School students under the Muntinlupa Scholarship Program were given Christmas food packages by PayMaya executives and Muntinlupa City government officials last December 18 at Ayala Malls Southpark. It was a day of fun-filled activities for the children and their parents who attended the event. PayMaya will extend this gift-giving activity to all of Muntinlupa’s 35,000 scholars in batches.

“Christmas is a time for sharing and a time that we all spend with our loved ones. At PayMaya, we value this season of giving and hopefully with our small gift, we are able to give Muntinlupa scholars a good time when they celebrate with their families and friends,” said Orlando B. Vea, PayMaya Philippines President and CEO.

“Aside from making the kids realize the value of money management through their PayMaya account, where they will now receive their subsidies for their scholarship under the Muntinlupa Scholarship Program, we mounted this activity because we want to share with them our love and joy this Christmas season,” said Raymund Villanueva, PayMaya Issuing Business Head.

“We would like to express our appreciation to PayMaya for their gifts for our students this Christmas. We would also like to thank PayMaya in helping us teach our students to know how to use their money wisely at a young age,” said Honorable Jaime Fresnedi, mayor of Muntinlupa City.

“Maraming salamat po kay Mayor Jaime Fresnedi sa pagpili sa akin bilang isang scholar at maraming salamat din po sa PayMaya sa pamasko ninyo sa amin. Sana marami pa po kayong batang matulungan katulad ko para matupad namin ang aming mga pangarap. Merry Christmas po!,” said Justine Maron Abella, Grade 4 student of Alabang Elementary School and a scholar under the Muntinlupa Scholarship Program.

Earlier this year, PayMaya forged a partnership with Muntinlupa City Government to make the the city’s disbursement of subsidies to citizens and scholars more seamless and efficient. Under the partnership, Muntinlupa Care cardholders are given personalized PayMaya cards where they can receive their benefits.

PayMaya’s partnership with Muntinlupa City is part of its initiative to improve and enable local governments in their digital transformation and to build cashless communities through more secure and accessible financial products and services.
