When arts, technology make a lovely pair
Huawei joins hands with FBDC in the name of passion
Arts and technology are making a harmonious collaboration this holiday season, thanks to a partnership between Huawei Philippines and the Fort Bonifacio Development Corp. (FBDC).
Huawei recently introduced two new video streaming platforms in the Philippines—VIDPluz and Clipz—which will be used in FBDC’s “Season of Passion” celebration at the Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig City.
The campaign has brought together music, arts and food afficionados in BGC through a series of activities throughout the commercial district to mark the Christmas season.
“We purposely look for partners to add value to the celebration. We chose Huawei because 50 percent of our market is composed of millennials. We thought we needed a brand who can marry the online and the mobile world together,” FBDC Marketing Manager Sean Luarca told the Inquirer in a recent interview at the Huawei headquarters in BGC.
“We’re going to have a series of events up to January. We’ll have a fiesta, a lights and sounds show every day , musical plays, we even have a New Year’s countdown,” she shared.
Luarca said Huawei would be present throughout the entire celebration to provide the video component of the events.
“If there’s an event happening, the celebration will be extended far beyond the event. This is our treat to our citizens. They can get to experience what’s happening in our malls right in the comfort of their own homes,” Luarca explained.
She added: “Onsite, also, they will be providing experience zones, and they will theme their activity based on what the mall is celebrating.”
VIDPlus is a video streaming service app for long-form content such as movies.
CLIPZ, meanwhile, is for shorter videos.
Currently, both platforms are compatible only with Android devices, preferably Huawei.
Huawei Philippines Account Director Charlie Dong said CLIPZ had “thousands of short videos, including cooking, extreme sports and travel series.”
VIDPlus’ catalog of hundreds of films is primarily composed of “elite Chinese movies, including kung fu films,” he added.
Huawei Philippines Head of Hosting Ken Liang also revealed that aside form the app version, a web version of the two platforms may be used with a Chrome browser.
“The main difference with other platforms is our affordable program. There is also a lot of user-generated content,” he explained.
“This is just the beginning,” Liang declared, encouraging users to check the apps daily because “new content is uploaded every day.”
