The Philippines: Boehringer Ingelheim’s choice for its third shared services center

In the Philippines, Boehringer Ingelheim is likewise an industry leader, recognized as one of the largest multinational pharmaceutical companies in the country. The business of Boehringer Ingelheim (Philippines), Inc., or BIPHI, has rapidly grown since it began its operations 55 years ago. Not only have its products become recognized for their efficacy and reasonable cost, many of them are current leaders in their respective markets. A third shared services center is now ready to open its doors — Boehringer Ingelheim Business Services Philippines, Incorporated (BIBSPI). With its office in Alabang, Muntinlupa, the Philippines, as the location of its most recently added shared services center was an uncomplicated decision for the Boehringer Ingelheim Board of Managing Directors. Apart from the country’s ideal location in Southeast Asia, the Filipino workforce is also reputed as being exceptionally skilled, widely articulate in numerous international languages, notably efficient and exceedingly dedicated. From an economic standpoint, BIBSPI creates more job opportunities for Filipinos.

Toward standardizing and centralizing target processes, BIBSPI is set to provide back-office master data, finance, commercial, purchasing and HR services to Boehringer Ingelheim entities in North America, Japan, China, Australia and New Zealand. It will also function as a service center for Southeast Asian  countries, including South Korea, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia and Malaysia. 

In particular, BIBSPI is tasked to provide business support services for finance, such as procurement, accounts payable, treasury, master data management, order to cash, and P2P first level support, as well as for HR-related services, like human resources evaluation and recommendation, personnel management and staff outsourcing.

BIBSPI was officially inaugurated on November 16, 2017. The event was attended by both local and international associates and partners of Boehringer Ingelheim as well as esteemed government officials representing the Philippines and other countries.
