Lenovo bullish on growth prospects in PH

Technology company Lenovo estimates that the Philippine economy will continue to grow, thus it makes sense for the company to want to become part of the development story.
Han Chon, general manager of Lenovo’s Data Centre Group in Asean, shared this as he discussed the company’s expansion in the Philippine data center market with members of the local media at the Makati Shangri-La recently.
“We are exploring many options, looking at the industries experiencing growth or are experimenting,” Chon said, citing the financial services, telecommunications, and health care sectors as the growth areas in the data solutions market.
The company launched its “Lenovo Transform” event in the Philippines as part of its global campaign to help customers and partners harness the “intelligence revolution” through its largest data center portfolio.
The portfolio of server, storage, networking, software and data center services, through the “ThinkSystem” and “ThinkAgile” brands, promises performance, reliability and quality to its clients, said Abraham Lim, country manager of Lenovo’s Data Center Group in the Philippines.
“The customers’ needs have become more complex, the needs have been changing, and we are evolving toward the next generation,” Lim explained.
Chon said the pivot to the Philippines was logical because of the country’s “more advantageous geographical location and linguistic advantages.”
“We want to make the technology industry more interesting in the Philippines,” Chon said.
Having established its presence in the financial services, telecommunications and health care sectors, Chon said Lenovo would focus on these three growth areas by “transforming from being a business needs provider to a service provider.”
He also said the company seeks to grow its partnership in these industries by “transforming the experience” of consuming technology.
Chon said the ThinkSystem and ThinkAgile brands would support the technological transformation by reducing complexity and streamlining operations.
And with 42 new world performance benchmarks recorded, the ThinkSystem x86 server portfolio claims to offer the best services to support the local companies’ digital upgrades, he added.
