Max’s opening store in Tukwila, Washington

Max’s Group Inc. (MGI)’s legacy Filipino restaurant brand Max’s is expanding its footprint in the US with the opening of a new store in the suburban city of Tukwila in Washington by next year.

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange on Tuesday, MGI said it had signed a deal with a local partner, JS Restaurant LLC, to build the first Max’s Restaurant in this city.

“This is another exciting moment for us to provide our countrymen based in the United States a genuine taste of home. We are grateful to be in partnership with JS Restaurant LLC to serve our best-in-class products to the community of Tukwila,” MGI president and chief executive officer, Robert Trota said in a press statement.

This marks the sixth overseas store development agreement sealed by MGI for 2017.

“We are witnessing the fastest rate of expansion in North America. For this year alone, we opened three new Max’s Restaurant’s across New Jersey, Calgary and San Diego. Moreover, we have another two stores in the pipeline for 2018 to be located in Winnipeg and Tukwila,” added MGI International chief executive officer Peter King.

JS Restaurant LLC is a private company engaged in specialized medical services since 2012. Its principals have been residents of Tukwila for close to two decades. During this span, it has established business networks and alliances which will anchor its initial foray into restaurant operations.

Max’s Restaurant currently operates a total of 175 stores including 27 franchised branches overseas. This restaurant brand has been operating since 1945.

Aside from Max’s, MGI has been bringing other brands like Yellow Cab, Pancake House and Sizzlin’ Steak to overseas markets.
