The peso yesterday strengthened against the US dollar, closing at 50.54:$1 from 50.735:$1 last Monday.

At the Philippine Dealing System, the peso reached an intraday high of 50.54:$1 and a low of 50.84:$1 after opening at 50.8:$1.

The total volume traded jumped to $738.75 million from Monday’s $284.9 million.
