NEW YORK—Apple shares dropped more than four percent on Wall Street on Tuesday after the California gadget-maker unveiled an updated version of the iPhone but not a new model many analysts had been expecting.

Apple shares were down 4.93 percent at $356.14 shortly after the company took the wraps off the iPhone 4S at an event at its Cupertino, California, headquarters.

The more powerful iPhone features a speedier processor, a built-in “personal assistant” that responds to voice commands and a more powerful camera.

Many analysts and Apple fans had been expecting a next-generation iPhone 5.

The iPhone 4S will be available in the United States, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and Britain on October 14 with pre-orders commencing a week earlier.

In the United States, iPhone 4S prices will start at $199 for a 16-gigabyte model and top out at $399 for a model with 64 gigabytes of memory.

I don’t get it. I thought it had already been known that Cupertino was just releasing an updated iPhone 4?

  • John Sulayman

I can’t wait until iPhone 20 is out. Until then I will not buy another iPhone to replace my iPhone 3G

That’s what you get when you put too much hype on a product.

    • Anonymous

The “hype” you refer to wasn’t made by Apple, but by all the bloggers, news agencies, etc. who simply repeated rumors and wishlists from “reliable sources.”

hoy..mga “BRAND CONSCIOUS..PAKITANG TAO..PA-SOSYAL”…sorry to disappoint you! plus Apple crap can’t play Adobe Flash anyways…

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_J7QZMA5F255IDHUMDBNI666WH4 Noel

And I suppose you are one of those who can’t afford one? If you can’t afford and hates being “brand conscious” why malign everyone else? And why do you have to be so bitter about it?

      Hoy Tuta (Snoopy S)

Di kami brand conscious…talagang mas advanced lang Apple compared to Windows. Kung Adobe Flash lang ang reason mo to prove Apple sucks……ang babaw mo tuta. OSX Lion vs. Windows 7 or even 8? OSX comes to you with built-in everything and no threat of malwares and trojans? San ka pa? iLife vs what for Windows? Integrated products (Mac, Ipad, Ipod). Zune is gone….Windows is behind in tablet wars…….ay naku…need I say anything else????? Cge na aminin mo na iPod owner ka rin hahaha.
