Glistening affair

Speaking of lighting, the recently held Christmas tree lighting at Marriott Hotel Manila was celebrated with smiles, Christmas carols, gift giving and a spread of feasts and treats.

Not to be missed is the 26-foot Christmas tree at the hotel lobby. At the glistening affair, general manager Bruce Winton welcomed the guests and briefly discussed Marriott’s holiday offerings. While everyone indulged on savories and sweets created by executive chef Meik Brammer and his kitchen team, guests admired the graceful performance of little ballerina, Sage Espiritu.

After a few twists and turns, she handed the magic wand to Marian Rivera-Dantes who signaled the lighting up of the Christmas tree.

Himig Roseña choral serenaded the guests with delightful Christmas carols as Santa Claus came down the elegant staircase with presents.

Christmas is a time for giving. Also present during the celebration were the students of the Philippine School for the Deaf, Marriott Hotel Manila’s beneficiary. For more information on Marriott’s Christmas offers please call 988 9999 or visit www.manilamarriott.com.

Expansion

Marriott Manila continues to excite the Philippines’ tourism industry as it prepares to unveil 228 additional rooms and new premiere dining facilities as part of its new development.

Aptly called the West Wing, the newly built structure will house two new restaurants, an executive lounge, roof-top infinity pool, and multiple new guestroom configurations that bring Marriott Manila’s total room count to 570—one of the biggest in Manila.

The development comes a year after Marriott Manila launched one of the country’s most technologically advanced meeting facilities. Considered the biggest hotel meeting space in the Philippines, the Marriott Grand Ballroom offers 28 multifunctional rooms spread across 8,000 square meters of space.

The West Wing has been developed partly in response to the increasing need for hotel rooms in the Philippines, a country experiencing remarkable tourism growth. The country welcomed 5.3 million foreign tourists last year, up 10.9 percent from a year ago.

The West Wing will offer 101 premium rooms, 97 executive rooms, 28 deluxe suites, the Marriott Suite and the Chairman’s Suite, the biggest in the hotel at 261.15 square meters. Three fully accessible rooms are also included in the West Wing.

The Marriott West Wing opening will have the connection of the Marriott Hotel Manila and Marriott Grand Ballrooms via Sky Bridge to create a seamlessly connected, world-class meeting and dining venue at the Gateway to the Philippines.
