SIEMATIC Urban Kitchen designs at Siematic Showroom
Casual, fresh, creative, individual, natural—these best describe SieMatic’s new Urban Kitchen Cabinet Collection. To launch the exciting new collection at the SieMatic BGC showroom, Focus Global Inc., its exclusive distributor, recently held two events that were graced by top architects, interior designers and selected guests. As one of the highlights during the launch, Volker Betsch, SieMatic’s managing director of the Far East Office, was there to talk about the collection extensively. The collection was appreciated for its distinct design that sets it apart from the traditional kitchen.
Like life in the city, the new SieMatic Urban style collection is all about contrasts and constant motion. The Urban style collection has the hallmarks of unconventional contrasts between carefully selected objects, standalone units, and intuitive combinations of thematic opposites. The essential ingredients of urban life are the interplay of intensity and composure, familiarity and surprise. This in turn creates a distinctive aesthetic—one that reflects the experiences, values and contradictions of city dwellers.
Essence of city living
Urban captures the essence of city living, while celebrating nature and the outdoors. Part of the appeal of open living plans lies in bringing in more natural sunlight, and with it, a connection to the outdoors. The philosophy behind it is to remove boundaries between spaces, and between the outside and inside. It is for those who enjoy mixing different styles with a creatively fresh perspective on functionality and flexibility.
Homeowners may opt to include an herb garden in their Urban kitchen, a part of a theme of open design in the said collection. It inspires organic gardening enthusiasts to invite nature into their kitchen, while delivering an open look.
The Urban style collection features the new SieMatic 29 kitchen sideboard, developed in collaboration with the Berlin-based Kinzo design studio. It is a homage to a traditional piece of furniture: the kitchen buffet, which gave SieMatic its first success after its founding in 1929. It has earned a prestigious German Design Award in Gold. Awarded by the German Design Council (Rat für Formgebung), the German Design Award is one of the most well-respected design competitions in the world.
Design quality
Panels of experts from the German Design Council nominate only those products that “demonstrably set themselves apart from their competitors, thanks to their design quality.” The striking design, with its sloped side panels and distinctive silhouette, casts a distinctive silhouette. The black matte finish on the metal feet is reflected in the unit’s fittings such as the railing and power outlets. The design versatility goes into niches with versatile colors and materials that can individually accommodate kitchen elements such as cook tops and sinks. The SieMatic 29 can also be impeccably rounded out by matched or coordinated tall cabinet ensembles, in which an oven, dishwasher and/or refrigerator can be installed.
The Urban kitchen is characterized by the unconventional juxtaposition of carefully selected objects, as well as the intuitive combination of thematic contrasts: exciting and peaceful, strange and familiar, modest and ostentatious, flea market finds and design classic. It is the individual aesthetics that tell a story of the experience, values, and contrasts of a unique personality. It is “solitaire” planning in which each object stands alone, but has a relationship with its neighbor. It is design without dictation.
