Ongoing unique exhibit of Magis Rocky at Dimensione

/ 12:24 AM August 20, 2016

It’s a busy month for design and other design-related affairs. Even with August being the Ghost Month when no new construction or renovation should start, many design activities are keeping the art world alive.

Dimensione, a home and lifestyle specialty store, has an ongoing unique exhibit of the Magis Rocky in celebration of Magis’ 40th anniversary. From the very start, Dimensione has established a modern and design-driven aesthetic when it comes to its merchandise and showrooms, catering to the sophisticated, well-traveled, urban-minded shopper. It comes as no surprise that Dimensione has developed a very good relationship with international iconic brand such as Magis. Definitely an unbeatable partnership, Magis has trusted Dimensione as its exclusive partner here in the Philippines since 1997.

Now that Magis is also celebrating four decades in the world of design and furniture, Dimensione collaborated with Secret Fresh to create a local homage to one of the most fun and iconic items of Magis—the unbeatable Rocky! Magis representative for Asia, Meryem Chouirf was present during the event and talked about how the partnership of Dimensione has grown throughout the years and that this particular project with Secret Fresh for the Unbeatable Rocky is special for the company as it showcases the spirits of both Magis and Dimensione.

The artworks showcased different techniques, inspirations, stories of the Filipino local artist community and the daily lives of the Filipinos or the artist themselves. It was a night where art and design were celebrated.

These one-of-a-kind masterpieces are for sale and can be part of your very own homes and collections. Dimensione x Secret Fresh exhibition is on until Sept. 4 in the Studio Dimensione showroom at the corner of 28th and 7th streets, BGC, Taguig.

This August, Philippine Tatler focuses on the movers and shakers in the design scene through its annual design issue. For the cover story, they traveled to Venice for the Architecture Biennale, a visual art exhibition held every two years. This is the first time that the Philippines has participated in the Architecture Biennale, though it had joined the Art Biennale in 2015.

PH design identity

The informative issue features the Filipino architects and artists who explored and interpreted the country’s design identity through their respective pieces in the exhibition Muhon: Traces of an Adolescent City. Prime movers Sen. Loren Legarda and the LVLP curatorial team comprised of Andy Locsin Jnr, Juan Paolo “JP” de la Cruz, and Sudar Khadka Jnr share their insights on the essence of architecture going beyond the structure itself.

In other stories, the magazine also picks the brains of six of the local design industry’s biggest names on their thoughts on the ever-changing culture in the Philippine scene. Feature includes the unique concept of brutalist architecture with architect, interior designer and visual artist Carlo Calma, who worked with concrete and steel to create a different sort of dream home in an idyllic Makati suburb.

One of the issue’s highlights is the interview with world-renowned architect Carlos Ott, the Uruguayan who conceptualized the design of Burj Al Arab, the iconic sail-shaped hotel in Dubai. Together with his team, he shuttles in and out of the Philippines to work on the plans for The Proscenium at Rockwell, a premiere development consisting of residential towers, a Retail Center and a Performing Arts Theater.
