Herbalife appoints first Filipino to its nutrition board

SAN FRANCISCO–Global nutrition company Herbalife appointed Dr. Francis Gregory Samonte, an expert in pediatric neurology, to its Nutrition Advisory Board (NAB), effective January 1.

Samonte is the first Filipino appointed to the NAB, which is composed of leading experts from around the world in the fields of nutrition and health. They inform, educate and train independent Herbalife members on the principles of nutrition, physical activity and healthy lifestyle.

Samonte’s appointment boosts the number of NAB members to 30 and reflects efforts to further bolster in public awareness and educational programs on balanced nutrition and healthy active lifestyle in 15 countries as part of Herbalife’s Asia Pacific Wellness Tour initiative.

Samonte is among the Philippines’ premier experts in pediatric neurology and is currently based in Manila. He graduated from De La Salle University College of Medicine in 1995, and has since studied at institutes including John Hopkins University and Harvard Medical School. He was a recipient of the Chairman’s Achievement Award, Department of Pediatrics, University of Louisville, Kentucky, and his affiliations include the Philippines Medical Association.

Samonte is active in supporting charities, notably as a member of the Board of Directors of Community Based Resources in Zambales.
