Inquirer business writers win honors
The Economic Journalists Association of the Philippines (EJAP) recognized its best in 2015 at award rites in Makati on Friday with two Inquirer Business reporters taking honors.
Reporter of the Year trophies went to journalists from eight beats, namely, Finance, Banking, Macroeconomy, Commodities (Agriculture and Mining), Energy, Infrastructure (Telecommunications and Transport), Trade and Investments, and Capital Markets.
The Inquirer’s Paolo Montecillo took the award for Finance, with the trophy and token literally in his hands onstage even before the award was announced, he being the EJAP president.
Senior Inquirer reporter Doris Dumlao-Abadilla won in the Capital Markets category.
Besides Montecillo and Dumlao-Abadilla, other EJAP award winners were Jimmy Calapati of Malaya Business Insight (Banking), Angela Celis of Malaya Business Insight (Macroeconomy), James Galvez of the Manila Times (Commodities), Lenie Lectura of Business Mirror (Energy), Lawrence Agcaoili of Philippine Star (Infrastructure) and Louella Desiderio of Philippine Star (Trade and Industry).
The year’s best investigative or explanatory stories were recognized as the Feature Story of the Year.
The Best Feature for Print award went to Iris Gonzales of Philippine Star and the open category Best Feature Online went to Darwin Amojelar, then of Interaksyon.com now with The Standard.
