Warning issued vs juice drink

MANILA, Philippines—Health authorities have warned the public against drinking a fruit juice claiming to burn body fat but which contains amphetamines and sibutramine, which are harmful substances.

In an advisory, Food and Drug Administration acting Director General Kenneth Hartigan-Go said Leisure Burn Body Fat Orange Juice manufactured by America Huarui Sheng Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. was not registered with the FDA to be sold in the country.

FDA inspectors seized samples of the product in Tuguegarao City.

Earlier, the FDA suspended the manufacture, importation, distribution and marketing of all sibutramine-containing products due to the unnecessary cardiovascular risk.
