MANILA, Philippines – A recognized Asian hub, Korea boasts contemporary and highly advanced facilities for international meetings, incentive tours, conventions and exhibition (MICE). Korea has become the best MICE destination because of its convenient location and sizable and sophisticated complexes, each with its own architectural style and state-of-the-art technology.

With that, the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) aims to position Korea as an ideal convention destination and increase Asia’s market share of the global convention market. With “Korea, Beyond Meetings” as its slogan, KTO will actively market the country’s historic yet modern offerings while enhancing the standards in the convention industry by developing and promoting sound professional practices.

When KTO, together with the Korean Chamber of Commerce Philippines (KCCP) and Philippine Travel Agencies Association (PTAA), commemorated the second anniversary of its Manila operations, it did so with a special two-part event geared towards promoting Korea MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conference and Exhibitions) tourism to Philippine corporations and travel agents handling incentive tours.

Hosted Friday May 30, 2014 at the Makati Shangri-la Hotel, the event kicked off at 2:30 p.m. with the Korea Mice Mart, which opened to the public. The event featured booths of airlines, Korean land operators, convention and visitors bureaus and regional tourism organizations from Korea. Attendees also experienced other exciting activities such as Korea’s traditional fan dance, videos showcasing Korea as a premier MICE destination, seminars and a raffle.

Towards the evening, the second half of the anniversary event commenced with an exclusive gathering dubbed Korea Night at 5:30 p.m. The invitation-only event gathered corporate businessmen, travel agents, airlines and journalists.

Korea Night highlighted Korea’s MICE tourism presentation and featured the unique non-verbal performance called “Bibab,” a raffle draw and a special performance by actress Jessy Mendiola, who is the Honorary Ambassador of Korean Tourism.
