Former F1 star David Coulthard visiting Manila
Former Formula One racing driver and motorsport celebrity David Coulthard is coming to town.
He is set to grace the opening of the new Les Temps watch boutique in Resorts World Manila and launch his special edition TW Steel watch at the TW Steel Watch Boutique located at The Podium on September 26.
Coulthard is now a race commentator and co-presents the F1 coverage for the BBC network alongside Jake Humphries and former F1 team owner Eddie Jordan.
Born on March 27, 1971, the Scottish driver started his driving career in karting. By 1989, he moved on to Formula Ford and won his first ever Young Driver of the Year award. In 1992, he raced in the Formula 3000 series and on his maiden year, he finished ninth and spent another year ending in third place. By 1994, he began his F1 career for the Williams team as a test driver when the untimely death of Ayrton Senna at Imola gave him the opening to race alongside F1 legend Damon Hill for the Spanish Grand Prix. After two years with Williams, he moved on to race for McLaren where he spent eight years of his career culminating in a second overall finish in the driver’s championship of 2001. He moved on to the Red Bull team and eventually retired from F1 racing in 2008. Throughout his F1 career, he gathered a total of 13 wins, 62 podium finishes and 12 pole positions. He is currently the eighth-highest-scoring F1 driver of all time with a career total of 535 points.
