Information technology and business process management (IT-BPM) companies will continue to play a crucial role in enhancing the Philippines’ global competitiveness, according to the DSTI Group, a leading player in the outsourcing industry.

The companies, described by DTSI president and CEO Miguel Garcia as enablers, have already transformed virtually every industry by empowering investors to face tough challenges and make the right investment decisions.

“In an increasingly competitive global arena, potential investors need to leverage deep expertise in the evolving Philippine business environment,” Garcia said.

As an IT enabler, the DTSI Group provides innovative business communications technology and end-to-end state-of-the-art facilities and management services for a wide range of industries. One of the things it does for clients is to develop smart facilities to promote cost savings, sustainable urbanization, and overall efficiency in the workplace, he said.

“With managed services, for example, companies are also enhancing their operations to focus on delivering value. These capabilities are driving the growth of major industries in the Philippines,” he said.

“An informal industry survey conducted earlier this year by Outsource2Philippines and Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines showed that 88 percent of established IT-BPM firms plan to increase their workforce by up to 200 percent this year,” Garcia said, adding that most investors consider the Philippines to be a less risky destination for investments and outsourcing compared with China and India.—Amy R.
