P20-B vineyard leisure estate to rise near Tagaytay

‘Twin Lakes’ to feature wine-making area

The group of tycoon Andrew Tan has launched the 1,149-hectare “Twin Lakes” estate near Tagaytay City that will feature the country’s first commercial grape vineyard for making wine as well as areas for residential and commercial developments.

At a press briefing last week, Global Estate Resorts Inc. (Geri) unveiled its new P20-billion integrated tourism estate in Laurel, Batangas, just off the scenic Tagaytay.

Initial stages of the project will be done over the next five years and will involve the construction of a cluster of three condominiums, a commercial complex for tourists and the development of its most unique attraction—a grape vineyard in the middle of the property.

“Demand for condominiums in Tagaytay is very high. There are lots of clients looking for destinations that are near Metro Manila, and Tagaytay fits that description,” Geri vice president for sales and marketing Erwin Francisco told reporters.

“Because of the cool climate, naturally people want properties in Tagaytay. And on top of that, we are doing things that other developers are not. This vineyard is unique in this country, and the rest of the property is large. There are a lot of things we can do there,” he added.

Francisco said each of the three condominium buildings would have seven floors with 11 units on each floor. One-bedroom and two-bedroom units are available for sale.

Geri also plans to build a 15-kilometer road that passes through the entire property, bringing motorists down to Talisay, Batangas, near the banks of Taal Lake.

Apart from the condominiums, 250- and 500-square-meter lots would also be offered for sale, Francisco said.

Meanwhile, the vineyard in the middle of the property will be managed by Geri’s affiliate the Emperador Group, which will grow the grapes and turn these into wine. Francisco said Andrew Tan himself was recently in Spain to look for consultants who would help the company produce high quality wines in Tagaytay.
